The 1st Hornsea Scout Group in East Yorkshire has been established for nearly 100 years, with the first scout headquarters being opened in 1910.
We are thriving Group and are one of the leading groups in the Beverley and Hornsea District, in the Humberside Scout County.
The group has active Beaver, Cub, Scout and Explorer sections and is one of the feeder groups for the Beverley and Hornsea District Explorer Group.
The group caters for young people aged 6 - 18.
The Group is based at Hornsea Scout Headquarters located on Trinity Road to the South of Hornsea, (see the location link in the above bar for more information).
The Scouting sections are:-
- 6 to 8yrs Beavers - meet between 5.15 and 6.15 on a Monday, term time only.
- 8 to 10½yrs Cubs - meet between 6.30 and 8.00 on a Monday, term time only.
- 10½ to 14yrs Scouts - meet between 7.30 and 9.00 on a Thursday, term time only.
- 14 to 18yrs Explorers - meet between 8.00 and 10.00 on a Thursday, all year round.
As all sections are now fairly full it would be best for all prospective beavers, cubs or scouts to check with the relevant section leader first either in person or via this link to find out if spaces are available.

A relatively new Scout Shop has recently opened on Cleveland Street in Hull where you can purchase Scouting goods and other related merchandise, for a site detailing its stock and location click here or on the link to the left of this page.
At the present time we have been succesfully in raising funds to replace the existing defective roof covering on the Scout Headquarters building. In completing this work we where very grateful to be helped by the presentation of two cheques, one from the Hornsea Carnival Committee of £2000 and one from the Hornsea Lions of £7000 towards the roof appeal.
A big thank you to the Scouts for raising £82.45 for Children in Need. The money was raised by a small donation for non uniform and the an extra donation for having a plaster of paris face mask made. A fun time was had by all and we had yet another first for the scout section – mass investiture while wearing face masks!
To help raise funds for the BBC's comic relief event on the evening of Thursday 15th March the Scout Group held a none uniform evening. In order to attend Scouts and Explorers without Uniform had to make a donation to Comic Relief, however the Scouts & Explorers in uniform had to make a larger donation to comic relief. All the Scouts donated and to top it off the Scout Leader in charge accepted donations to allow the Scouts & Explorers to throw plates of cream at him. So overall a good night was had by all concerned, all in aid of the BBC's Red Nose Day!. Another year and another visit to the pleasant county of Buckinghamshire where the scouts, explorer and network sections could be found lounging by the River Thames sipping Pimms and listening to Test Match Special on the radio, while dreaming about Premiership glories to come.... I WISH!!
For the first week of August a party of 32 scouts, explorers, network and leaders from Hornsea Scout Group camped at Longridge which is a campsite, on the banks of the Thames, 5 minutes walk from the town of Marlow. It is a great site that has outstanding facilities for water activities - indeed everybody who attended camp either paddled a kayak/canoe or sailed or took a RYA course of instruction in Powerboat. We also managed to squeeze in a day at Thorpe Park where those who enjoy such things had a great day. There was some first aid refresher training laid on for others!
Many thanks to the four fabulous network members who laid on a great round-Marlow quiz for Scouts and Explorers and who generally helped out without a moan, whenever asked. The scouts had a great time and all applied themselves to every activity that came their way. The Explorers were also there.......Only joking ..we wouldn't be without them!
The highlight of the week for me was the presentation of a cuppa beans (with obligatory sausage with which to eat them). If this is causing confusion - refer to Alan Partridge, the second series, available on YouTube by following this link.
