Hornsea Scout Group Centenary - 2010
Few people may realise that next year will mark the 100th year of Scouting in Hornsea. The current leadership team would like to include all of those who have taken part, had a role or even just a memory of Scouting within the area over the last 100 years.
An E-mail address has been set up for those of you who would like to be included. Send us some contact details and a brief description of how you were involved in Scouting and when we have our centenary events next year, we’ll be sure to invite you to the celebrations.
We would like to include a display of “Hornsea Scouting Memories”, so if you have any photos depicting Scouts over the years, and the ability to scan them, please could you send them to the following E-mail address:- centenary@hornseascouts.org.uk
Or just write and tell us what you remember, it would be nice to build up a timeline and include as many of you as we can!
If you know someone who was “One of those” a long time ago, but doesn’t have internet access, please mention this article to them and see if they would like to be included.
Our Beavers,Cubs,Scouts and Explorers will over the coming months be fundraising for the Group to be able to have a Centenary Camp over the August Bank holiday 2010, and we ask that you be as generous as you have been in the past. The Saturday night will be our opportunity to welcome you to a splendid campfire/singalong with all the normal traditions of good food and excellent company.
We receive NO government funding for Scouting, and rely on fundraising to do everything, from running the hut, to camps, activities and events. All our leaders give their time voluntarily and despite popular belief that we get paid, we do it to give the children a good start and pass on skills to help them through life. As always leaders and helpers are in short supply and large demand, so if you think you have the time, energy and will to be a positive influence in these young peoples lives please contact us, to see if there is a place for you in our extended family. We look forward to hearing from you ………and NO we don’t say “Dib Dib Dib” anymore!!!
